Inspired by the 2025 Palisades Fire, this painting is rooted in a moment of intense uncertainty. While visiting California, Katie Sevigny found herself near the scene as the fire began its spread. Just before evacuating, she captured a photograph of the smoke-filled horizon — a haunting image that would become the foundation for this piece.

California Fires is both a vibrant and poignant snapshot in time, reflecting not only the stark beauty of a landscape in crisis but also the quiet strength and resilience required to endure and rebuild.
