Cats, Clouds, & Cityscapes

NEW WORKS BY KATIE SEVIGNY

CURRENT SHOWCASE

This First Friday of September, Portland artist and gallery owner Katie Sevigny unveils Cats, Clouds, & Cityscapes: A vibrant new oil collection that celebrates the end of summer, the rhythm of the city, and the quiet magic of Oregon’s coast.

The collection began at the Sou’wester retreat on the coast, where Katie spent time painting, reflecting, and letting her imagination roam. The first piece, a surreal 3×5 ft still life featuring her cat, a bird, and a mouse, set the tone: playful, layered, and deeply personal.

From there, the work expanded to include cloud studies, coastal landmarks like Haystack Rock, and scenes inspired by long drives and quiet moments with loved ones (especially her cats).

Back in Portland, a friend and fellow artist shared aerial sunrise footage of the downtown waterfront. It lit a new fire to weave cityscapes into the collection. The footage, rich with color and movement, inspired the centerpiece Hawthorne Bridge, where geometry meets emotion and the Willamette glows with morning light.

Painted entirely in oil, Cats, Clouds, & Cityscapes is a love letter to Oregon: its textures, its moods, and its creative spirit. Each piece reflects Katie’s expressive style and her ability to find beauty in both the everyday and the unexpected.
